Corten steel
The corten steel or cor-ten if we need just the right designation is a type of steel that rusts quickly into the surface but has a slower corrosion than, for example, soft steel. It can thus be said that the rust layer prevents the material from rusting. Corten steel can thus last outdoors for decades - completely maintenance-free.
When we process the material in our factory, the material resembles black steel. Upon delivery, the steel is still black, but after a few weeks of outdoor placement - depending on the time of year - the rust layer will slowly appear. Being impatient, the process can be accelerated by once washing followed by saline spray.
When placing on tiles or wood, the ground must be protected for the first time from rust markings, as rust in the rain will drip onto the substrate. This decreases after a few months, but we always recommend paying attention.
When you receive your corten plant case or high bed it looks like the first image. This is what the steel looks like before it starts the rusting process. The beautiful red color gradually changes with the weeks, months and years, and you can therefore experience your products changing color.
