Galvanized steel is a popular choice for planters and raised beds.

Galvanized steel is a well-known treatment of steel, where a zinc treatment makes the metal extra hardy and maintenance-free. All byJEMA galva products are made from hot-dip galvanized sheet that is laser cut, bent and bolted together.

As the hot-dip galvanized surface is broken by laser cutting, some rusting may occur in joints. You could say that about 1/3 of the galvanization is "pulled" through the cut, leaving about 2/3 of the exposed steel. Over time, this cut will develop a form of corrosion and become darker in color than the other parts of the sheet. In the same way that the galvanized surface changes colour over time from a shiny surface to a more matte surface. All byJEMA products, planters and steel benches, are designed with these cuts in mind. Thus, the cuts are all uniform and tried to be hidden via bends on the CUBY series.

Planter boxes and raised beds from byJEMA are made of galvanized steel and are designed with an elegant and timeless style. They are robust and can withstand the harsh weather conditions often found in the Nordic climate. They are also easy to maintain as you only need to wipe them with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or algae, any scratches - or cuts for that matter - have the ability to repair themselves as the zinc continues to develop a protective layer.

If dirt, sand and debris have settled on the surface, it may be a good idea to clean the dirty plates, as there is a higher risk of white rust in dirty areas.

It is a very durable material. It is not only resistant to rust and corrosion, but also resists damage from high temperatures, UV radiation and other weather conditions.

Their design is functional and fits well in a variety of garden environments, from modern to rustic. The planter boxes and raised beds are also available in several sizes, so you can choose the size that best suits your garden space.

Another advantage of choosing galvanized steel planters and raised beds from byJEMA is that they are environmentally friendly. Galvanized steel is recyclable and can be used again and again, making it a great choice for those looking to reduce their environmental impact.

Overall, galvanized steel planters and raised beds from byJEMA are an attractive choice for those who want a timeless, robust and durable solution for their gardens. Our unique design and material choices make for a beautiful and natural addition to the garden, and their durability ensures they will serve you for many years to come.

Does galvanized steel damage plants?

You can grow and plant all kinds of vegetables and plants in this planter. Galvanized steel is generally not harmful to plants as it is a corrosion-resistant material that does not release harmful chemicals or metals. Zinc, which is used in galvanization, can be harmful to plants in high concentrations, but in the small amounts present in galvanized steel, it is unlikely to have a harmful effect. If you are still in doubt, we recommend lining the box with a plastic sheet, polystyrene, insulation mat or similar. This will also insulate the soil from the sides of the box and extend its lifespan.

However, it is important to check the PH of the soil and add soil-improving materials if necessary, as galvanized steel can tend to lower the PH of the soil.
